With today’s scratching of So You Think, Shoot Out has tightened into a firm favourite at $2.60 with sportsbet.com.au ahead of Heart Of Dreams and Predatory Pricer. Checkout our tips and preview for today’s race.
| Racetime: 15:20 | Distance: 1400 | Class: 3UOPEN2N | Prizemoney: $200,000 |
Today’s J.J Liston Stakes looks on paper to be a much more open race to what the markets show so we will be looking for some value around the short priced favourite Shoot Out.
Heart Of Dreams: Ran 4th in this race last year and goes into the race having the 1400m trip more suitable as there are quite a few stayers starting their campaigns, currently at the odds of $4.8 at sportsbet.com.au we think he will be there abouts at the finish but at the current odds listed we think he is too short. Place Chance
C’est la Guerre: Primarily a staying horse which will be looking for further although does have some form around the 1400m trip, should get through the going nicely and at $15 we think he is a great each way chance only issue we can see is that he doesnt seem to like the Caulfield track. Place Chance.
Vigor: Another runner who will be looking for a bit more distance at a suitable distance of 1600-1800m, has had one start over 1400m without placing although we reckon he will sit on the pace today and should give a nice kick in the straight currently at $11 we think he is a good bet in todays race. Winning Chance.
Predatory Pricer: Won the 2009 J.J Liston stakes beating home the very impressive Typhoon Tracy, it looks to be an easier field this year without the presence of her and Whobegotyou so the $7.50 on offer at sportsbet.com.au looks to be great value. We will be backing him to beat the $2.6 favourite “Shoot Out” today.
Apprehend: For me the best roughie in the race, he will be suitable over the 1400m and looks classy enough to beat home a lot of the stayers in the race, currently at $26 we will be adding him to our multiples.
Shoot Out: Goes into the race as the short priced favourite and rightly so after a fantastic win in the Bletchingly Stakes 2 weeks ago, the distance should suit winning and placing from 3 starts and he has shown to handle the different way of going. Winning Chance
Monaco Consul: After a disappointing preparation in New Zealand he has come back and run well in the AJC Derby and the Queen Elizabeth. He looks to be another major player in todays race jumping from barrier 2, currently $15 and we think he is one of the best each way bets in the race.
Carrara: Should jump well and search for the lead, there doesn’t look to be much speed in the race so we doubt he will get too much pressure meaning he should give a nice kick into the straight. Should be leading til the 150-100m mark and depending how slow they have gone will determine if he can hold the rest of the field. Currently at $12 we think he is a decent each way chance but may not have the class to beat them today.
Looks to be a great race today with some of Australia’s best stayers kicking off their Spring campaign below are our 4 tips for the 2010 J.J Liston Stakes in order taking into account their current odds.
1: Predatory Pricer
2: Shoot Out
